IPTV success in South Korea

IPTV-based TV services have now topped 120 million subscribers in South Korea, according to Korea’s Digital Media Industry Association (KDMIA). KDMIA says the services had emerged as a new retail platform for visual content.
Telco KT Corp is the largest player in the sector has over 5.48 million subscribers. SK Broadband and LG Uplus have over 2.5 million and 2.02 million IPTV subscribers respectively. IPTV subscription numbers reached three million in December 2010 and five million in April 2012, added KDMIA.
