Hoyts drops VoD plan
June 23, 2014
Australian cinema group Hoyts has dropped its plan to launch its own video-on-demand service. It is understood the project has been indefinitely suspended because of high content costs.
Advanced-television.com reported March 2014 that Hoyts had held preliminary discussions with Seven West Media regarding potential collaboration on an online VoD service.
Hoyts announced plans in September 2012 to launch online streaming service Hoyts Stream in the first quarter of 2013, but delayed this until 2014.
