Seven bid for Croatian TV licences
July 3, 2013
Croatia’s Council for Electronic Media has confirmed that seven bids have been received on the public tenders that will award national TV licences.
One licence each will be awarded for a general entertainment channel in Multiplex A and Multiplex B, as well as one licence in Multiplex D for a thematic TV channel. RTL Televizija, whose licence is to expire soon, was the only bidder for Multiplex A. Four are in the running for Multiplex B – three Croatian broadcasters (Kanal 5, Nova TV/Pro, Nezavisna Televizija/Super TV) as well as Greece’s Antenna Group. Finally, RTL Kockica and Nova Pro have submitted bids for Multiplex D.
Currently, Multiplex A is broadcasting the following channels: RTL Televizija, Nova TV, HRT 1 and HRT 2; Multiplex B carries RTL Televizija, Nova TV, HRT 3 and HRT 4; while Multiplex D airs CCN TV, Doma TV and RTL 2.
Also, Varazdinska Televizija was the only bidder for the renewal of the local TV channel licence for three counties in Northwestern Croatia.
The Council for Electronic Media will decide by August 1st on the awarding of the 15-year licences.
