Telecom Italia accelerate sale of La7
June 13, 2012
From Branislav Pekic in Rome
Following the recent separation of broadcast (La7, La7d and MTV Italia) and transmission activities of Telecom Italia Media, parent company Telecom Italia is now determined to speed up the sale of national broadcaster La7.
According to local media reports, Mediobanca and Citi have started exploratory contact with different industrial and financial entities to see if there is a genuine interest in the TV channel, which is reporting an average daily audience share of 3.63 per cent (Auditel data from April).
Studying the La7 file are Italian multimedia group L’Espresso Group, which is allegedly more interested in an alliance on the digital multiplexes; Italian advertising agency Cairo Communication; Italian investment firm Proto Organization, as well as foreign broadcasters such as Qatar’s Al Jazeera, China’s CCTV and Germany’s RTL.
