Viddy’s cool backers
April 24, 2012
Viddy, the popular iPhone app for editing and sharing mobile videos, has raised funding from some celebrity backers including Will Smith and Jay Z. In February Viddy announced that it had secured $6 million in a Series A round funding from Battery Ventures, Greycroft Ventures and Qualcomm.
Since its introduction of this free “Instagram-for-video” service in April of last year, Viddy has garnered 10 million registered users and claims it is now adding 300,000 more each day. Much of Viddy’s marketing and promotion has been linked to its use by celebrities.
