From Branislav Pekic in Rome
PrimoItalia has launched what it claims is the biggest Italian Internet TV offer, distributed via connected TVs, computers, Blu-ray players, smart phones and tablets.
PrimoItalia provides access to over 150 TV channels from the Streamit TV Internet TV platform, available in HD, with over 3 million unique users per month. Channels aired by the platform include Film On Demand (cult movies); ANSA (live news); YouReporter (video journalism); Key4Biz (telecom and media news); ilMeteo.it (weather); Filmtrailer (movie trailers); Sitcom (lifestyle); and PrimoItalia Channel (24- hour web TV channel).
PrimoItalia will be available free and exclusively on the full range of Samsung connected TVs (Internet@TV, Smart TV, Smart Hub) and the application is already pre-loaded on the new tablet Galaxy 10.1 tab. No subscription, decoder or activation fee is required for the service, although premium content will soon be added, which can be purchased via the mobile phone.
The service uses Vetrya’s platform for content management and TV video distribution over IP, which enables a data flux of up to 7 Mbps per channel and a definition of 1920×1080 pixels.
