comScore, specialist in measuring the digital world, has released data from the comScore Video Metrix service, indicating that 28.5 million German Internet users viewed a video online in December 2008, up 10 per cent versus the previous year.
Driven by the popularity of YouTube.com (which accounted for 98 per cent of all videos viewed on the property), Google Sites grew 48 per cent versus a year ago to further solidify its position as the leading online video viewing property in Germany, attracting 19.4 million viewers in December 2008. Universal Music Group ranked second with 8.6 million viewers (up 19 per cent), followed by two German properties, ProSiebenSat1 Sites and RTL Group Sites, which attracted 6.5 and 4.1 million viewers respectively. Megavideo.com had the fastest rate of growth among the top ten video properties, growing 1,183 per cent to 2.1 million viewers in December.
