Despite the current pay-TV deadlock in the country, the latest report by PricewaterhouseCoopers forecast that the market will experience a 16.5 per cent annual growth over the next five years.
Currently, there are around 4 million pay-TV subscribers in Spain, with Sogecable-owned satellite platform Digital Plus taking the lion’s share with more than 2 million clients. Cable company ONO is second with more than 1 million subscribers, and Telefonica’s IPTV service, third, with around 600,000 customers.
The report also forecast that Internet access will rise 12.8 per cent, increasing its ad revenues by 37.2 per cent.
