PlayStation VR pre-orders sell out in US
July 1, 2016
Pre-orders for the PlayStation 4 virtual reality headset have already sold out in the US, with shortages also predicted for the UK.
According to games review site IGN, the final wave of pre-order headsets – which went live on June 30th – were snapped up ‘within minutes’.
In the US, the PlayStation VR is released on October 13th, but in the UK it is just currently down as being sometime in October. Sony Europe hasn’t revealed what its stock situation is, but at the time of writing, the device is still available for pre-order through Amazon and GAME.
“We have growing confidence that we’ll be supply constrained with this product, but we’ll do our very best to meet demand,” PlayStation president Andrew House said earlier this month. “Virtual reality is a medium that’s in its infancy. With such a nascent, very new form of storytelling, it’s difficult to predict what user uptake is going to be.”
