Rentrak patent on TV Return Path info
January 13, 2015
Rentrak, a specialist in precisely measuring movies and TV everywhere, today announced that it has been granted another patent by the US Patent and Trademark Office.
U.S. Patent No. 8,930,978 is for detecting and correcting TV viewership levels caused by missing or “dropped” set-top box viewing information. Given that cable, telco and satellite operators may have inadvertent “outages,” this process minimises their impact.
“This patent, along with others, should give our clients continued confidence in our commitment to the best television measurement from massive and passive databases,” said Rentrak’s Vice Chairman and CEO Bill Livek.
