Following up on proposing a law that internet video should abide by broadcast regulation, Italy's Supreme Court has ruled that ISPs in the country must block access to Pirate Bay.

Following a previous attempt to make ISPs block the site, the Court of Bergamo, on an appeal from Pirate Bay, ruled that foreign websites could not be censored for alleged copyright infringement. That meant the block was temporarily lifted. This most recent ruling from the Supreme Court overturns that decision.

Now lawyers for Pirate Bay are deciding whether or not to appeal the case again. This would mean the case would go before the European Court of Justice and potentially apply in other countries as well.
