South Africa’s E.tv will launch four new channels for the ‘Platco Digital OpenView’ DTH service that is intended to rival DStv.
The 4 new channels will cover local content, kids, movies and what is described as pan-African programming. E.tv first went on air in October 1998 and was for some time looking to launch a rival pay-TV service to DStv. The new channels will go on air in October.
Additionally, the channels will be available terrestrially on South Africa’s new digital services as and when they launch. “These new channels will allow us to showcase more diversity and our ability to appeal across various demographics of our society,” says e.tv group head of channels Monde Twala.
