BSkyB’s newly-acquired international distribution arm, Sky Vision, is making its debut appearance at the MIPCOM programming market in Cannes, which opens October 8th. BSkyB bought Parthenon Media Group in July and this has now changed its name to Sky Vision, and is being used to market Sky’s commissioned programming to international broadcasters.
Earlier distributions deals, for example Sky Living’s output deal with Target Entertainment, are being brought back in house and will in future be handled by Sky Vision. Current high-profile content includes the 4-part Kingdom of Plants series hosted by Sir David Attenborough, and another Attenborough-fronted series, ‘Galapagos’.
Both of these series are captured in 3D, and Sky Vision boss Carl Hall says for the moment Sky Vision’s portfolio is mostly factual material, but that he expects to be handling more drama and comedy from BSkyB’s own roster of material as well as from third-party programme-makers.
