Crayola partners with Kickstart Entertainment on Create the Impossible
June 18, 2026
Crayola Studios, the children’s and family entertainment content division of Crayola, has entered into a development deal with Kickstart Entertainment for Create the Impossible a new, high-energy live-action STEAM series for kids co-created by astronaut, MIT-engineer turned Emmy-nominated science TV host Emily Calandrelli and multi Emmy and Peabody award-winning executive Maria Pepin.
Blending creativity, engineering and playful competition, the series sets outrageous challenges that initially seem impossible – from painting a picture without ever touching the canvas, to turning music into color or building a machine that draws while it’s flying. Host Emily Calandrelli helps her kid crew teams as they race to build creations that solve the challenge in their own unique way, through a combination of art, science, engineering – and vivid imagination. Fun, messy, and inspiring, the series celebrates collaboration, out-of-the-box thinking, and the idea that there’s no single “right” way to solve a problem.
The deal was announced by Sabrina Wiewel, EVP and Head of Crayola Studios, at the end of the first ever Kids’ Content Development Initiative on June 17 at the Bentonville Film Festival, created to discover and develop the next generation of storytellers shaping kids and family entertainment. Emily Calandrelli and Sasha Duncan, Director of Development, Kickstart Entertainment were joined on the judging panel by Crayola Studios representatives Rick Glankler, Principal of GoatFish, and Kerry Crowley, Executive Development.
Sabrina Wiewel said: “Creativity is one of the most powerful forces in a child’s life, and Create the Impossible perfectly captures the spirit of Crayola by turning imagination into action. We are delighted to develop the show with Kickstart Entertainment, Maria and Emily, whose expertise and enthusiasm for science brings an amazing energy and sense of adventure that will appeal to curious kids everywhere. At its core, science is about experimentation, imagination, and discovering new possibilities. By connecting creativity with STEAM learning, the series encourages kids to think beyond limits, build confidence, and celebrate collaboration, while reinforcing that creativity has no boundaries and plays an essential role in shaping future innovators.”
Emily Calandrelli said: “I’m thrilled to be partnering with Kickstart Entertainment and Crayola Studios on Create the Impossible. Crayola has inspired generations of kids to think creatively, making them the perfect partner for a show that celebrates imagination, experimentation, and big ideas. Together, we’ll challenge kids to dream boldly, embrace curiosity, and discover what can happen when art and engineering collide!”
Jason Netter, CEO Kickstart Entertainment said: “Crayola has spent generations inspiring kids to create without limits, which makes them the perfect partner to help us bring Create The Impossible to life.”
Create the Impossible will add to Crayola Studios’ growing slate, which includes titles such as Pablo Next Level, Rainbow Brite, and The Neverending Pillow Fort, as it continues its broader strategy to develop multi-genre content for kids and families, unlocking creativity and imagination through the power of content that will empower kids’ to achieve their full potential.
