Iran to launch 23 satellites

November 17, 2025

By Chris Forrester

Analysts and researchers from Bryce Tech say that Iran is planning to launch 23 satellites this coming year.

Bryce says that Iran already has 31 satellites in low Earth Orbit and has four active launch rockets at its disposal (Simorgh, Zuljanah, Qased, Qaem 100) and can use three launch sites (Semnan, Shahroud, Chabahar (in development)).

The nation has three space organisations: the Iranian Space Organisation established in 2004 for “the peaceful applications of space science and technology”. Then there’s the Iranian Space Research Centre (ISRC) formed in 2000 and is the agency of the country’s Ministry of Science, Research & Technology. The third is the Iranian Republic Guard Corps (IRGC) which is distinct from Iran’s army and established in 1979 and reports directly to the country’s Supreme Leader.

Bryce explanied how the current fleet of satellites gridle the Earth although the list of launch failures is not insignificant, and does not show or list the pad ‘accidents’ which resulted in failed attempts at launch.

Bryce says Iran has steadily increased its launch cadence and satellite deployments, signalling growing capability and ambition in space. Bryce admits that Iran’s space activities are “characterised by limited transparency and selective disclosure which makes independent verification difficult”.
