Tulipop collaborates with Freyr; UYoung deal
October 3, 2025

Tulipop Studios has announced the creative team for its three animated seasonal specials, two of which will include music composed by Icelandic singing star Daði Freyr. The creative team is led by directors Selina Wagner and Evgenia Golubeva and writer Myles McLeod, who is joined by award-winning co-writers. Eurovision sensation Freyr will compose original songs for Pumpkin Pip and Whoosh!, adding his distinctive musical voice to Tulipop’ universe. The popular singer is best-known for his song Think About Things which has received 53million views on YouTube and over 160 million streams on Spotify.
“I’m very excited to be working with Tulipop on these two films,” commented Freyr. “Tulipop is a household name in Iceland and my two young girls are big fans of the characters. It’s really fun to be creating songs for something that my kids get so excited about.”
“Daði is an incredible talent, and we couldn’t be happier to have him on board,” added Helga Árnadóttir, CEO and Producer at Tulipop Studios. “His music has such broad family appeal, and we know the songs he’s creating for Tulipop will be loved by kids and parents alike.”
The three 30-minute specials, a spin-off of hit preschool series Tulipop Tales, have been commissioned by all the Nordic public broadcasters (NRK, SVT, DR, YLE, and RÚV) and are set for dual release in cinemas and on television worldwide. Produced with 2D Workshop (Edinburgh) and The Animation Band (Italy), the Tulipop Seasons trilogy include:
• A Midwinter Tale (Winter/Holiday) – September 2025
• Pumpkin Pip (Halloween/Autumn) – June 2026
• Whoosh! (Spring/Summer/Troll Story) – June 2026
In Canada, where Tulipop Tales already airs to strong ratings success, Télé-Québec has extended its partnership by acquiring A Midwinter Tale, the first of Tulipop’s 30-minute animated specials.
In addition, Tulipop has secured a deal with UYoung, one of China’s leading children’s media companies, to bring Tulipop Tales (52 x 7’) to audiences across the territory. The partnership is part of a new wave of global distribution and marks a major milestone in Tulipop’s international growth.
“We are thrilled to join forces with UYoung, a partner that truly understands premium children’s storytelling,” said Árnadóttir. “Their reach and expertise make them the perfect home for Tulipop in China.”
Alongside UYoung, Tulipop has signed deals with HappyKids, Dreamscape, and Encore, three global platforms bringing Tulipop Tales to families worldwide.
