UK indie Dash Pictures has hired Jack Oliver as Head of Development and Executive Producer across all unscripted and scripted content.
Jack, an experienced broadcast producer and executive, recently left European pay-TV giant Sky from his role as Head of Co-Productions after a decade at the company where he started as an Acquisitions Manager working across film and series. He joined Sky after a 20-year stint in acquisitions at the BBC working across 24, Heroes, Damages, and Family Guy. A multi-award winning producer, responsible for thousands of hours of content, Jack’s credits include The United Way, Spector, Mission To Burnley, Exterminate All The Brutes, The Return: Life After Isis, The Princess, Kingdom of Dreams, The Ghost of Richard Harris, Poly Styrene: I am Cliche, Blue Road: The Edna O’Brien Story, and Dating Death: The Rodney Alcala Story.
Daniel Sharp, Founder and Executive Producer, Dash Pictures, recently announced the launch of its scripted arm, introducing the company’s first feature film Better, a psychological thriller starring Tom Hopper (The Umbrella Academy, Game of Thrones), which recently completed filming in the UK. Jack has been brought in to help expand Dash Pictures’ offering into premium content with a plan to produce more feature and premium documentaries and develop new working relationships while increasing capacity across the board.
Dash Pictures is well-known for creating, developing and producing high-end, long-form features and series for international networks, attracting audiences around the globe. These titles include Emmy-nominated series Frontier, Vikings: The Rise and Fall and Disasters Engineered, as well as the highly entertaining series Billy and Dom Eat the World – famed for portraying the lovable and mischievous hobbits in The Lord of the Rings trilogy – and Fantastic Friends starring James and Oliver Phelps who enchanted audiences worldwide as the roguish but loveable twins Fred and George Weasley in the Harry Potter franchise.
Dash Pictures’ line up of unscripted titles for 2025 include Genghis Khan: The Secret History of the Mongols (6 x 1 hour), What Really Happened: American Independence (6 x 1 hour), Great Estates From Above (4 x 1 hour) and hard-hitting series Marilyn & The Mob (2 x 1 hour), produced in association with Sphere Abacus.
Oliver commented: “I am thrilled to join the Dash Pictures team; it is an exciting opportunity. Daniel’s vision for the company is inspiring and something I feel I can actively contribute to. I am confident we can continue to build upon the success in the factual space that Dash has enjoyed and develop premium features and series in both scripted and unscripted. The overt intention will be ambitious, entertaining projects that have impact, narrative propulsion and authentic authorship; stories which resonate with audiences.”
Sharp added: “As Dash continues to evolve, we are thrilled to have Jack on board. His many skills, vast experience and untold enthusiasm will help us navigate the many aspects of development and production that we need to continue to build our business across both scripted and unscripted, both domestically and internationally, whilst maintaining our high levels of quality.”
