SES-owned playout division MX1 has been partly sold off. Its UK activity is being bought by Visual Data Media Services (VDMS) based in North London.
MX1-UK’s content preparation and studio-based distribution and streaming activity will now be managed by VDMS.
All existing MX1 UK contracts with current customers will remain unaffected, says SES and this includes its Munich-based HQ activity.
“We are active consolidators in the global media services and content preparation market. This transaction continues our current UK expansion program, and we were particularly attracted to the talented operational and management teams at MX1 UK Limited,” commented Visual Data Media Services managing director Symon Roue. “This acquisition continues our growth in the media services, localisation and content preparation market. It is an amazing time to be in the content preparation industry with the flight to quality content driven by the US and European streamers.”
