Spain: ‘Operation Fake’ arrests more pay-TV pirates
January 15, 2018
From David Del Valle in Madrid
Spanish police have arrested three people in Barcelona, Cadiz and Vigo for pirating pay-TV by mass-sharing software through Internet forums to over 500,000 users.
The hackers sold software and CCAM, NewCam and TIKS protocols to illegally watch pay-TV and even offered tutorials teaching how to do it.
The police operation, called ‘Fake’. has resulted in over 30 arrests since 2015. In its first phase, police put an end to an international organisation that distributed hacked STBs to watch pay-TV channels.
