Biancuzzo retiring from Hearst Media Production Group

March 5, 2026

Frank Biancuzzo, who since 2021 has served as president of Hearst Media Production Group (HMPG), has announced that he will retire from the company at mid-year 2026 — capping a career of more than four decades in television, most of it spent with Hearst Television.

HMPG, a business unit of Hearst Television, is an independent producer and distributor of original programming; it was established in 2021 following the completion of Hearst’s acquisition of Litton Entertainment. Biancuzzo’s successor at HMPG will be announced at a later date.

“There is no executive who was more prepared than Frank,” commented Hearst Television President Michael J. Hayes.  “He was a mentor, leader, and partner to me and to many.  His strategic and critical thinking will leave an indelible mark on our company.  That will be Frank’s legacy.”

Biancuzzo’s varied career has encompassed multiple aspects of the television industry, including local television news production and promotion, research, marketing, general management and ultimately oversight of a major independent production company. As president of HMPG, he built upon the former Litton Entertainment’s leadership position in educational/informational programming – expanding HMPG’s original content, production, and distribution, while positioning the company for expansion into unscripted entertainment programming. Today, HMPG reaches over 17 million weekly viewers, with a robust library of 85 original series distributed across leading broadcast and cable networks, local stations, connected TV, and streaming platforms. Its content is available in more than 100 countries.

In his prior role as a Hearst Television executive vice president and group head, Biancuzzo shared oversight of all the company’s television and radio stations. Previously, he served as president and general manager of WISN-TV, the Hearst Television ABC station in Milwaukee. Before WISN, he was on Hearst Television’s corporate team overseeing marketing and promotion for the station group, leveraging his prior experience as an industry research and marketing consulting executive at Frank N. Magid Associates.

Biancuzzo has served as vice chair of the CBS Affiliate Board and head of the board’s news committee, and as an advisor on the ABC Affiliate Board promotion committee.

“Reinvention is essential in this industry, and I’ve been fortunate to build four distinct career chapters during my 31 years with Hearst Television,” Biancuzzo said. “Serving alongside Hearst’s extraordinary leadership team has been the defining honor of my professional life.”
