Mega Movie Week returns to Nordics for 2026
January 23, 2026
Members of The Digital Entertainment Group: Nordic Committee (DEGN) have announced the first edition of Mega Movie Week in 2026. For the second time, film lovers across Sweden, Denmark, Norway and Finland will be able to enjoy promotional prices on VoD across ten days (January 23rd to February 1st).
The latest edition of Mega Movie Week builds on the success of previous campaigns, with the last EST (digital purchase) initiative in October 2025 showcasing a 434 per cent volume uplift versus the previous period. This time, in the fourth campaign within 12 months, Mega Movie Week focuses on VoD (rental).
Mega Movie Week includes a range of movies across eleven major retailers including Allente, Altibox, Prime Video, the Apple TV app, Blockbuster, Elisa Viihde, Rakuten TV, SF Anytime, Telia, TV 2 and Viaplay (some retailers only in certain regions). The campaign is supported by major film distributors – Universal Pictures Home Entertainment, Nordisk Film, Scanbox Entertainment, SF Studios, Sony Pictures Entertainment and Warner Bros. Discovery.
Titles available in the campaign include A Big Bold Beautiful Journey, The Conjuring: Last Rites, Jurassic World Rebirth, Relay, Fleak, The Penguin Lessons, Superman, The Bad Guys 2, Good Fortune, The Life of Chuck, The Dance Club, Rust and many more.
Consumers can enjoy recent Box Office hits at discounted prices, giving them the opportunity to ‘try before they buy’.
This edition will be supported by a partnership with search & discovery film tool PlayPilot, a media campaign across all regions including a partnership with Swedish industry giant Aftonbladet, digital out-of-home advertising in central Copenhagen, Google search engine marketing and prime placements across Facebook, Instagram, TikTok and YouTube highlighting the offers.
Jesper Dahlgaard, Chair (DEGN) & Nordic Director of Digital Sale (Nordisk Film), commented: “Across the Nordics, audiences expect choice, quality and great value, with Mega Movie Week delivering all three. This first edition in 2026 and our fourth in 12 months, reflects how VoD continues to resonate, offering an easy and affordable way to enjoy local and international titles. The strength of collaboration between retailers, distributors and DEGN members is what makes these campaigns possible, and it is great to see it grow year on year.”
Liz Bales, Chief Executive at DEGI: The Digital Entertainment Group International added: “Mega Movie Week proves that when the Home Entertainment Industry supports a clear consumer message, VOD can deliver real impact. With standout results behind us, this campaign shows how great offers and broad availability can turn attention into action, with the Nordic entertainment industry continuing to grow at scale.”
