Electric Entertainment acquires North American distribution rights to The Draw
October 7, 2025
Electric Entertainment, the Los Angeles-based production and distribution company, has acquired the exclusive North American distribution rights to the sci-fi thriller film The Draw, the debut feature from View35 Films, written and directed by Tom Ruddock and produced by Shelley Ruddock. The deal gives Electric all rights in North America and worldwide for ship & airlines. The announcement was made by Dean Devlin, CEO of Electric Entertainment.
Devlin commented: “This film is a seamless addition to our carefully curated collection of sci-fi and dystopian cinema. As technology continues to evolve at an astonishing pace, it compels us to imagine the future through the lens of robotics and artificial intelligence. Both thrilling and unsettling, this film delivers exactly what fans of the genre crave—an experience that is as thought-provoking as it is entertaining.”
In an oppressive world, where free will is becoming a thing of the past, The Draw, portrays a chilling look at humanity’s potential future. The story focuses on Alec, played by Ryan Gage (The Musketeers, The Hobbit: The Battle of the Five Armies), an awkward dreamer working in the local avatar store where customers can design their idealised real-life persona, a symbol of the EyeLight based technological revolution that Alec passionately resists. His isolation is invaded by Jade, played by Lara Lemon (Insomnia, The Drowned), an equally rebellious figure, but who has learned to navigate the system more strategically than Alec. As their relationship deepens, they
become connected to the values of a forgotten past that could cost them to lose everything. Set against the backdrop of a politically motivated game show known as ‘The Draw,’ a real-life hunt where contestants’ lives are used as a form of entertainment, the film is a parallel universe that exposes audiences to the dangerous trajectory of today’s societal issues.
The film debuted at the Manchester Film Festival earlier this year. Film Seekers hailed The Draw as “…the exciting debut from UK filmmaker Tom Ruddock. Fans of sci-fi dystopia such as THX 1138 and Equilibrium will enjoy this alternative reality that painfully highlights the risks posed by society’s current trajectory.” The film has a running time of 99 minutes.
The deal was negotiated on behalf of Electric Entertainment by Addie Booth, Coordinator of International Sales & Acquisitions and Caroline Couret-Delègue, Managing Director of Film Seekers.
