Spain: Atresmedia tops ratings, but profits down
April 30, 2025
From David Del Valle in Madrid

Spain’s private TV group Atresmedia has reported a net profit of €28.6 million in the first quarter of the year, down 14.5 per cent. With TV ad revenues falling by 2.7 per cent in the quarter, the group’s revenues were largely flat at €243,2 million (versus €245.1 million the same period last year) with EBITDA falling by 14 per cent to €43,1 million.
These financial results are not in line with its strong audience ratings since Atresmedia, operator of the Antena 3 TV and La Sexta channels other channels, is the leading TV group in Spain with a combined average audience share of 26.2 per cent, becoming ratings leader in the last ten successive quarters, with Antena 3 topping the ratings with an average of 12.7 per cent.
In digital, Atresmedia is also recognised as the largest TV group with 23.4 million unique visitors to its Atresplayer streaming platform – pulling in an average of 2.7 million daily unique visitors in the first quarter.
Atresmedia estimates a net cash position at year-end 2025 of between €60 million and €80 million.
Javier Bardají, CEO of Atresmedia, said the the group is considering on bidding for the new nationwide DTT licence to be awarded in Spain later this year to “strengthen the position” of the company. Currently, Atresmedia is operating six TV channels – Antena 3, La Sexta, Neox, Nova, Mega and Atreseries – while its rival Mediaset is operating seven (Tele 5, Cuatro, Factoría de Ficcion, Boing, Divinity, Energy and Be Mad).
