The United Launch Alliance (ULA), which is the joint-venture between Boeing and Lockheed Martin, is readying its first rocket launch for the Jeff Bezos-backed Project Kuiper broadband-by-satellite mega-constellation.

ULA will loft the first 27 Kuiper satellites, probably on April 9th subject to the usual weather and technical considerations.

Amazon confirmed on April 2nd that it is preparing to launch its first batch of satellites to low Earth orbit on an Atlas V rocket from Cape Canaveral Space Force Station, Florida, as part of a mission dubbed KA-01 (Kuiper Atlas 1).

ULA had previously launched two test satellites back in 2023 but these latest versions are much improved. However, this next launch is at least one year behind the original plan and is pressing because Project Kuiper must have at least 50 per cent of its 3,200 craft fleet in orbit by July 2026.
