Germany: NHK World-Japan expands distribution via HD+
September 19, 2024
NHK World-Japan, the English-language international service of Japan’s public media organisation NHK, is expanding its distribution in Germany in collaboration with HD+. The German TV platform operator has integrated the channel into its streaming package HD+ IP as well as its multiscreen service HD+ MultiScreen, enabling reception on smartphones, tablets and further TV sets in the household.
NHK World-Japan is available both on the HD+ IP smart TV app as well as on the recently launched HD+ IP TV-Stick, an HDMI dongle turning any TV set into a smart TV. The channel, which is offered together with around 100 HD channels, is the first international service on the HD+ streaming products.
With the addition to HD+ IP, the HD+ TV-Stick and HD+ MultiScreen, NHK World-Japan continues its expansion course in Germany following the launch on streaming TV platform waipu.tv in January. DTH satellite households can receive NHK World-Japan as a free HD channel on Astra (19.2° East).
NHK World-Japan offers a 24/7 service featuring hourly live international news from Tokyo and news bureaus around the globe as well as programmes on Japanese society, politics, science, culture, history, food and lifestyle.
