Satellite operator SES has opened a new 43,000 sq ft central operations hub in Virginia which will be the operator’s main US location.
The new site is based in Bristow, near Manassas in Prince William County. SES already has a giant satellite ‘dish farm’ at Manassas, Virginia.
As SES’s central operations hub in the US, the new building features two cutting-edge operations centres which allows the company to operate its satellites and to provide video and data network services to customers all around the world. The new facility represents an investment of $17 million and employs 200 people.
“The decision to build our hub in Bristow was a strategic move influenced by various factors: the dynamic and expanding technological landscape of this area, its proximity to Dulles Airport and our adjacent Washington Media Port facility—all of which supports our ambition to be one of the top three leading satellite providers in the world,” said Adel Al-Saleh, CEO of SES. “We would like to thank the representatives from Prince William County and the Commonwealth of Virginia for the excellent partnership and for making the community so attractive for global businesses like ours.”
