Record viewers for Women’s Super League on BBC

Chelsea’s 5-1 win over Liverpool in the Women’s Super League (WSL) on November 18th pulled in a record average audience for the competetion on the BBC.
The fixture between the current WSL champions and Liverpool was the most matched WSL game ever with an average TV audience of 796k viewers and a peak of 955k.
There were a further 141,000 requests to watch the fixture, which saw Lauren James (pictured) score a hat-trick for her club, on BBC iPlayer.
Until this game, Arsenal vs Aston Villa was the most watched game of the 2023/24 season at 766k, also aired on the BBC.
The next WSL fixture on the BBC is Bristol City vs Manchester United on November 26th, live on the Red Button and BBC iPlayer, followed by Arsenal vs Chelsea on December 10th live on BBC One.
