SpaceX has added Norwegian Cruise Line to its roster of commercial clients for its Starlink broadband service.
Norwegian Breakaway and Oceania Riviera have already been equipped with broadband dishes and contracts have been signed for the rest of the company’s fleet. Reports suggest that all its vessels will be equipped by the end of this year.
Founded in 1966, Norwegian is the fourth-largest cruise line in the world by passengers. In total NCL has some 29 vessels across its three brands -18 for NCL, six for Oceania, and five with Regent — with another set for delivery this year.
Starlink is also now operating in Nigeria, Africa’s most populous country, and in Peru. Nigeria approved the use of Starlink in the country last year, with a ten-year licence.
