NSR: “Non-GEO will add competition”

A Northern Sky Research study says the impact on non-Geostationary High Throughput Satellite supply will dramatically change the parameters for satellite operators.
“The Satellite Industry’s transformation continues with revenues shifting to Data verticals and deep changes in business models. The onslaught of capacity coming in targeted to tap key markets, specifically Backhaul, Consumer Broadband, Mobility and Government/Military will unleash demand elasticity but create financial challenges as well in terms of closing the business case for satellite operators given changing market dynamics.” So says Northern Sky Research (NSR) in its latest industry-focussed report.
“With normalization from the Covid-19 pandemic on the horizon, supply and demand dynamics are now being reconsidered as satellite operators craft go-to-market strategies in order to tap into high-growth verticals. A key component is the impact of massive NGEO-HTS supply coming in that will add to competitive, price and market pressure that could have both positive and negative consequences,” adds NSR.
