The pandemic has given a boost to consumption of pay-TV in Spain. Viewing time of Vodafone TV has increased by 34 per cent in one year, with customers being in front of their TV set for an average of 74 minutes more than pre-pandemic every day.
The usage of OTT platforms integrated into Vodafone – such as HBO, Filmin, Netflix and Amazon, among others – has grown by 136 per cent from 33 to 77 minutes, above all in the early ours, from 02:30 am to 07:00 am, with an increase of 593 per cent.
HBO has seen its usage double in the last year, and Fill-in has seen a 279 per cent rise. Vodafone’s streaming service also experienced a growth of 25 per cent in the number of connected devices used.
“We are seeing changes in the type of content customers are watching and in the programming slots and the way to have access to them”, says Ignacio García-Legaz, Director of Vodafone TV.
