DAZN acquires Handball rights
September 11, 2020
DAZN, the sports streaming service, has secured the media rights to show the EHF Champions League and European handball club competitions on the streaming service in Austria, Germany, Spain and Switzerland.
The new partnership means the men’s and women’s editions of the EHF Champions League as well the EHF European League and EHF European Cup will be shown on DAZN for the next six years starting with the 2020/21 season.
Thomas de Buhr, Executive Vice President DACH at DAZN, said: “Handball is one of the most popular sports in German-speaking countries. Therefore, we are all the more pleased to be able to offer all fans an even wider portfolio of live sports with the EHF competitions.”
The partnership was brokered by Infront after a competitive sales process on behalf of the European Handball Federation (EHF) and EHF Marketing (EHFM).
The agreement means the rights to the EHF Champions League as well as the men’s and women’s editions of the EHF European League and EHF European Cup have been sold across 28 territories for the 2020/21 season.
Infront and DAZN Group are media and marketing partners for EHF and EHFM as part of a ten-year partnership that started this year.
