WACS reinstated for West Africa

The West Africa undersea cable system (WACS) has been repaired and is again carrying data and Internet traffic between Europe and South Africa and South Africa and other African countries and networks.
The repair was completed and service reinstated on April 3rd.
South African National Research & Education Network, in a Tweet welcomed the WACS return to work and said that subject to a few interruptions because of tests.
The repair had been carried out by Tata Communicatuions which sent a repair ship (the Ile D’Aix) to carry out the fix.
