Google exiting free WiFi service

Google has decided to close down its Google Station free WiFi service operated in many countries. The South Africa service is closing, and Google says it is winding down the service in other countries where it has been operating.
Google Station was available at some 400 railway stations in India, and also in Indonesia, Malaysia, Brazil, Mexico, Nigeria, Vietnam and the Philippines.
Google had attempted to introduce an element of monetisation by inserting an advert when users signed in. In some cases, Google is reportedly working with local ISPs to take the system over to maintain a service.
