Rugby World Cup final most watched TV of 2019

ITV’s exclusive coverage of the Rugby World Cup Final on November 2nd reached an audience peak of 12.8 million viewers making it the most watched TV moment of 2019 on any channel. This was the biggest audience for a rugby match since the 2007 Rugby World Cup Final (also between England and South Africa).
Some 79 per cent of the audience watching television tuned in to see England’s defeat to South Africa in the match in Yokohama. And the average audience across the broadcast of ITV’s coverage was 8.9 million ( a 67 per cent audience share) making the Final the most watched sports programme since the football World Cup on any channel.
