Court puts Mediaset merger on hold
October 14, 2019
From David Del Valle in Madrid
A Madrid Court has ruled to grant Vivendi’s request to suspend the merger between Mediaset Italy and Spain.
The Court has suspended all decisions made at the Mediaset España extraordinary shareholder meeting on September 4th when stakeholders approved the operation.
Mediaset España has already announced an appeal before Audiencia Provincial, saying it “deeply disagrees with the preliminary ruling”.
The company added that “the rationale supporting Mediaset España are very solid and endorse the legal, economic and business responsibility of the corporate resolutions that have been challenged”.
