Vodafone Spain speeds up 5G deployment
October 7, 2019
From David Del Valle in Madrid
Vodafone Spain is increasingly relying on 5G to capture new subscribers to differentiate itself from its rivals.
The company has announced that it will extend its 5G coverage to another 34 cities in the country, with commercial services in the first half of 2020.
To pave the way, Vodafone has launched an unlimited data package that captured 1 million subscribers in four months, reaching a total of 1.3 million subscribers.
Currently, 30 per cent of the Spanish population has 5G coverage, with Vodafone being the only operator offering commercial 5G services in the country. For Vodafone, 5G is a strategic imperative in order to compensate the loss of subscribers resulting from the lack of football content.
