Costa Rica’s Ministry of Science, Technology & Telecoms says it will complete its digital switchover (DSO) a year from now on August 15th 2019.
Costa Rica has adopted the Brazilian/Japanese ISDB-T standard for its DTT broadcasting, and awarded a variety of digital channels including Channel 2, 4 and 6 (to Repretel), 7 (Teletica), 9, 11, 13 (Sinart), 23 (Link), 29 (VM Latino), 33 (ExperTV) , 35 (Youth Link), 42 (ExtraTV), 44 (Multimedia), 49 (TV Plus) and 50. Many of these channels have been on air since 2014.
The country’s DSO should have happened in December 2017 but was postponed for some 20 months because of national elections.
