Orange Spain speeds up fibre optic deployment
December 7, 2017
From David Del Valle in Madrid
Orange Spain says it will increase its investment in fibre optic by €2 billion and surpass 16 million homes and businesses by 2020 – two million more lines than initially expected.
The company plans to cover 70 per cent of all Spanish cities with over 5,000 inhabitants with FTTH, and 90 per cent of all cities with over 10,000 inhabitants.
The new FTTH plan comes soon after Orange brought forward its target of reaching 14 million homes with FTTH during 2018.
Currently, the company covers 11.3 million homes with FTTH, having added 2.3 million over the last year.
