Nielsen estimates Stranger Things 2 numbers
November 3, 2017
US ratings service Nielsen, which began measuring Netflix viewership in August, says some 15.8 million American viewers watched the first episode of Stranger Things season 2 by October 29th, its third day of release. That put it slightly ahead of the total for the season 8 premiere of AMC’s The Walking Dead over its first-three-days period.
Nielsen also estimates that 361,000 US subscribers binged all nine episodes of Stranger Things 2 on the day of release.
Netflix has never shared viewing figures and routinely disputes ratings estimates as inaccurate. But nonetheless, Strangers Things seemingly continues to be a phenomenal success for Netflix, and numbers will continue to shoot up as the weeks go by.
