Sony PlayStation VR supports HDR
October 3, 2017
Sony has unveiled an updated version of its PlayStation VR headset, offering HDR support, integrated headphones, and a slightly new design.
Models of the PS VR bearing the ‘CUH-ZVR2’ number will have the updated features and design, with Sony making the packaging different so that shoppers can tell the difference.
This biggest change is the external processor unit which has been updated to support HDR (high dynamic range) content via a passthrough connection, meaning HDR can still be viewed with the new PS VR headset even if the TV it’s being used with doesn’t support HDR.
The new VR headsets will be the same price as its predecessor, and is expected to launch imminently in time for the holiday shopping season.
