AT&T chief meets Trump
January 13, 2017
AT&T Chief Executive Randall Stephenson met with US President-elect Donald Trump in New York, but told the NYT he didn’t discuss the company’s acquisition of Time Warner – which Trump has opposed.
The conversation apparently focused on how AT&T can work with the Trump administration to increase investment in the US, stimulate job, and make American companies more competitive globally, AT&T said.
During the election campaign Trump said AT&T’s proposal to buy Time Warner was an example of a “power structure” that was rigged against him and voters.
Presumably the feud between TW’s CNN and Trump also wasn’t on the agenda; Trump has called CNN ‘fake news’ and refused to answer any of their questions after they reported a dossier alleging misbehaviour in Russia by the president-elect.
