SPI acquires 4K content from Korea’s AVA

SPI International, the global pay-TV operator and content aggregator, which broadcasts general entertainment channel FUNBOX 4K/UHD, has acquired native 4K productions from UMAX and AVA, Korea’s top 4K content suppliers.
The deal will boost SPI International’s growing 4K catalogue and will include six features shot in native 4K. Among the acquired titles there is The Korean Cultural Expedition, a documentary from UMAX and CJ Hello Vision exploring the cultural heritage of South Korea as well as a travel documentary film 7 Emotions, 7 wonders: Mexico, Italy, Jordan showcasing Chichen Itza archaeological site in Mexico, Petra in Jordan and The Colosseum in Rome, narrated by the internationally acclaimed actor Sean Astin (Lord of the Rings).
“As we want viewers of our FUNBOX 4K/UHD channel to experience the ultimate immersive 4K UHD content, we are glad to include in our 4K library new titles from our Korean partners,” said Berk Uziyel, executive director at SPI International. “It is our second acquisition deal with Korean suppliers and we are very happy with the highest quality of native 4K programming delivered by them; image quality remains one of the most important criteria for us when it comes to making the final selection of content for the FUNBOX 4K/UHD channel.”
