Altice confirms Bouygues Telecom offer
June 22, 2015
Following weekend reports, multinational cable and telecommunications player Altice has confirmed it has made an offer to acquire France’s Bouygues Telecom through its subsidiary, Numericable-SFR.
Altice will update the market in due course.
The reports suggested that Numericable-SFR, France’s second-ranked mobile operator, had offered to buy smaller rival Bouygues Telecom for about €10 billion in cash.
The move, which was first reported by the French newspaper Journal de Dimanche, would see the French mobile market reduce from four to three players.
Recent months have seen Altice acquire US cable company Suddenlink, Portugal Telecom and SFR.
