Pakistan police hit cable MSOs

Some 40 Pakistan cable operators were hit in police raids authorised by the Pakistan Electronic Media Regulatory Authority (PEMRA) last week. Operators in the Rawalpindi and Islamabad areas received visits from PEMRA personnel over carriage of unauthorised channels.
Hardware equipment was seized, as well as confiscation of ad-insertion systems, following – said PEMRA – a large number of complaints from the public.
Cable operators visited, according to local press, included, Web Com (Pvt) Ltd, SA Associates, Five Star Cable Network, Ocean Cable Network, United Communication Shan Cable Network, DHAI Teleman, Pasban Cable Network, The Professionals, and World Call (Pvt) Ltd.
