Channel 4 removes shows from YouTube
January 7, 2014

Channel 4 has removed all of its long-form content from YouTube as it focuses on its own service 4oD.
The broadcaster has pulled thousands of hours of shows from C4, E4 and More4 from its YouTube channel, but said it will continue to offer short-form content via new ventures such as 4Shorts and Mashed.
C4 is keen to ‘own’ as much of its online viewers’ data as possible in order to serve them more targeted advertising and editorial content, and believes 4oD is now sufficiently available to be the exclusive service to stream its shows.
“Reflecting the ways in which our viewers consume C4 content across digital and mobile platforms, our relationship with YouTube will now focus on short form content. We continue to make long-form programming available through our 4oD service on a range of platforms,” the broadcaster said.
