Technicolor and NAGRA, the digital TV division of the Kudelski Group, have formed a partnership which will leverage Technicolor’s Qeo communication framework to develop innovative applications for OpenTV 5 that enable interoperability with other devices and applications inside and outside of the home. Through this partnership, Technicolor and NAGRA are committed to enhancing consumer’s media experience by bridging the mobile, smart home, communication, social media and video ecosystems.
Qeo is a communication framework for simple, secure communication between applications and devices. Its peer-to-peer, real-time and very lightweight nature allows for the rapid development of very innovative services by interconnecting devices, platforms and applications of all kinds.
“OpenTV 5 offers an extremely flexible and expandable platform anticipating a broad range of connected home scenarios”, said Samir Mehta, Senior Vice President of NAGRA’s Middleware Solutions, “the integration of Technicolor’s Qeo technology is a solid proof point of this flexibility and it clearly opens a new realm of services opportunities for the Pay-TV and digital media markets.”
