Airtel adds 455,000 subs

India’s Bharti Airtel digital TV business added 455,000 new subscribers during its Q3 period (to December 31st). However, investment-based losses continued.
Airtel DTH suffered an increased net loss of Indian Rupees 1.96 billion ($40m), up on Q2’s IR1.8 billion. Airtel’s DTH total revenue for the quarter grew to IR3.3 billion (from IR2.38 billion in Q2).
Airtel Digital now has a 7.1 million subscribers despite being a late entrant into television. Market leader Dish TV has 9.5 million subscribers (as at December 31st).
