Samsung may launch Google TV in 2012
November 22, 2011
Samsung Electronics is close to concluding a deal with Google about launching a television using Google TV next year. But Samsung won’t be unveiling the new TV at the Consumer Electronics Show in January, Yoon Boo-keun, president of Samsung’s visual display division said.
Samsung, the world’s largest maker of flat-screen televisions, has been preparing plans to make a television set running Google’s platform since early this year, as part of its efforts to beef up its TV offerings, especially smart TVs.
Samsung aims to sell a total of 45 million flat-screen TVs in 2011, including 12 million smart TVs.
