Pace supplying huge STB order for Argentina
October 26, 2011
By Chris Forrester
Pace might be struggling to get its hands on set-top box hard drives, but news from South America is that it has won part of a 1 million box order for 2012 from DirecTV for its Argentina operation.
The news came from DirecTV Argentina. The order is split between Pace and Technicolor, and says that box production has already started locally to tap into local tax incentives. The boxes are being produced in the economically disadvantaged Tierra del Fuego and Pace and Technicolor are working with local manufacturers.
A range of boxes will be produced, from low-cost introduction level units, to higher-specified DVRs.
