Sky Deutschland adds 73,000

The German pay-TV provider added 73,000 new customers in the first three months of 2011, taking its total subs base to 2,726,000 for the end of March, up from 2,471,000 a year earlier and a step on the way to its challenging 3m target by this next year.
Q1 revenues grew 15% YonY to €269.6 million thanks to a combination of new subscribers and a 6% increase in ARPU to €30.50, but costs widened to €337.5 million up from €309.4 million, and the company posted an EBITDA loss of €55 million, still a 15% improvement on the first quarter of 2010. The operator reported a consolidated financial loss of €87 million, down from €97 million last year.
Sky doubled the number of premium HD subscribers to 664,000 at the end of March, a total of 1.13 subs receive HD.
